Our journey begins in the Ibizan port of Marina Botafoch. From here we will depart to the neighbouring island of Formentera. How long the trip takes will depend on the boat we choose (motorboat, sailboat, yacht, superyacht, catamaran...), but the important thing is to enjoy the journey, sailing on the Mediterranean is a real pleasure!
Cala Saona is the only beach on the west coast of Formentera and offers a truly unique natural environment. With white sand and crystal-clear waters, it has a sandy bottom that make this beach the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing swim.
And if there is something that really characterises this place, it is undoubtedly the large reddish rocks that edge the beach. Located in a bay, Cala Saona offers a landscape that you won't find anywhere else on Formentera. Forming part of the Cap Alt Natural Area of Special Interest, this beach is U-shaped and is bordered by cliffs that make up a truly spectacular scene.
Despite its small size (only about 200 metres long and 140 metres wide), this beach offers absolute peace and quiet, especially in the early morning, making it a good place to spend the night on your boat.
But it is undoubtedly at sunset that Cala Saona becomes a film set: it is tinged with a myriad of colours and offers a natural lightshow.
At this time of day, we recommend you go to the shore to visit the charming Kiosko Cala Saona: a small wooden beach bar perched on a discreet vantage point – it is the perfect place to watch this spectacle – while you enjoy a refreshing mojito or a few beers with your friends. Let yourself be bewitched by the sun as it hides behind the magical islet of Es Vedrà!
